Dr. Shakarov is a dedicated and compassionate ophthalmologist with specialized training in glaucoma. He earned his medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine, where he cultivated a deep commitment to clinical excellence and patient care. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the renowned New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, followed by a rigorous glaucoma fellowship at the Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Shakarov has expertise in medical and surgical ophthalmology. He provides a wide range of services including medical and laser treatment of glaucoma, standard and laser-assisted cataract surgery, minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), incisional glaucoma surgery (including tube shunt and trabeculectomy), and premium intraocular lens implantation.
Throughout his medical training, Dr. Shakarov was recognized for his academic achievements, receiving the Chairman's Award for Academic Honors and Distinction from the Department of Ophthalmology at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Outside of ophthalmology, Dr. Shakarov cherishes spending time with his wife and two girls. He is an avid runner and enjoys playing basketball and cycling. His broad range of interests reflects a well-rounded approach to life; he carries this approach with him through every patient interaction.
